MV Christmas tree lighting

On December 9, Mountain View community members gathered in front of City Hall at Civic Center Plaza to enjoy the tree lighting ceremony. The event is held annually in order to honor the upcoming holiday season. Performances featuring the Mountain View High School choir, Madrigals, and other local bands brought a huge crowd.

“I am delighted at the holiday spirit. The lights on the tree, the hot chocolate, the carolers; it’s all so festive and beautiful,” said MVHS junior and Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) Member Vlad Terson.

The Mountain View Recreation Division also organized for snow to be delivered, and a play area and small sledding hill was provided for children.

“I really like playing in the snow,” said a child while throwing a snowball at his sister.

Another volunteer at the event, YAC Member-at-large Eduardo Cuellar commented about how this event provided an opportunity to meet new people and fellow Mountain View residents.

“I enjoy helping out at this event especially since I get to see everyone having fun and enjoying the holidays,” Cuellar said.
