Oracle’s Week Reviews: April 26 - April 30

Last week’s sports games were filled to the brim with action, suspense, and victory. Overall, MVHS has won a total of 13 games out of 17 matches this week.

Monday, April 26:

Varsity Baseball v. Leigh

The Varsity Baseball team played a close at home match against Leigh. In the end, MVHS won with a score of 7-6.

Tuesday, April 27:

Varsity Girls Water Polo @ Harker

The Girls Varsity Water Polo team played an intense away match at Harker. Unfortunately, MVHS lost this game with a score of 13-11.

Junior Varsity/Varsity Softball v. Wilcox

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Softball teams played an at-home game against Wilcox. In the end, both teams won against Wilcox. The Junior Varsity team dominated with a score of 7-3. The Varsity team won a close match with an overall score of 12-11.

Varsity Boys Water Polo @ Wilcox

The Boys Varsity Water Polo team faced off against Wilcox in a heated game. Despite lacking the home advantage, MVHS won with an overall score of 12-15.

Junior Varsity/Varsity Girls Basketball v. Fremont

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball teams played an at-home game against Fremont. The Junior Varsity team just barely lost in a tight matchup with a score of 28-30. In contrast, the Varsity team won a close match with an overall score of 43-40.

Wednesday, April 28:

Varsity Baseball v. Wilcox

The Varsity Baseball team played an at-home game against Wilcox. MVHS severely lagged behind Wilcox in the first half, but soon caught up with a triple base twice in a row in the 6th inning. MVHS won with an overall score of 7-6 by the end.

Junior Varsity Boys Basketball v. Los Altos

The Junior Varsity Boys played an at-home game against the Los Altos team. From start to finish, MVHS held a significant lead for the entire game. Los Altos nearly surpassed MVHS in the fourth quarter, but to no avail. In the end, MVHS won with a score of 39-33.

Varsity Boys Basketball v. Evergreen Valley

The Varsity Boys Basketball team played an intense at-home match against the Evergreen Valley team. In the end, MVHS won with a total score of 65-47.

Thursday, April 29:

Varsity Boys Water Polo v. Los Gatos

The Varsity Boys Water Polo team played an at-home game against Los Gatos. Despite their efforts, they lost with a total score of 14-17.

Varsity Softball @ Fremont

The Varsity Softball team played an away game against Fremont. For the entire game, MVHS was always one step ahead of Fremont. Despite lacking the home advantage, MVHS won with a score of 15-5. 

Junior Varsity Girls Water Polo v. Los Gatos

The Girls Junior Varsity Water Polo team played against Los Gatos at an at-home match. Despite having the home advantage, MVHS suffered a crushing defeat with a score of 2-6.

Friday, April 30:

Varsity Baseball v. Wilcox

The Varsity Baseball team played at-home against Wilcox. Senior pitcher Gabe Barrett pitched a 17 strikeout no hitter against Wilcox, a profoundly rare accomplishment. In the end, MVHS swept the Wilcox team with an overall score of 3-0. 

Varsity Boys Basketball v. Santa Teresa

The Varsity Boys Basketball team played an at-home match against Santa Teresa. In the end, MVHS won by a slim margin, with a total score of 57-51.

Junior Varsity/Varsity Girls Basketball @ Fremont

Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball teams played an away game against Fremont. The Varsity team just barely won with a score of 40-43. The Junior Varsity team also won with scoring 31 points compared to Fremont’s 26.
